For the amiando Social Media and Events Report 2011 we asked almost 1000 event hosts from around the world about their use of social media for the promotion of events. This gave us a comprehensive overview of the current trends, problems and future expectations of the usage of social media for event promotion. The findings of the report led us directly towards the development of the “amiando Social Ticketing App”

The most used social media channel
Our results show that Facebook is the most used social media platform. Twitter and XING are following on the second and third place. MySpace takes the last place far behind. This is not entirely unexpected; given the fact that Facebook is the world’s largest social media site, with over 700 million users worldwide.
Most marketing potential for events
Facebook is the only platform that is expected to have high potential by far more than half of the respondents (78%). Just as above, this is not unexpected. As of now, Facebook is the largest social network worldwide.

The results of our report showed us clearly that event organizers mainly use Facebook and also see the most potential for their events in the largest social network. It would be only logical, to transform the vast marketing potential into direct sales. Why having the users leave the site, risking possible losses, when it is entirely possible to transfer interest directly into revenue?
Therefore we took immediate action and started to develop a Facebook ticketing app. With the release of the Facebook ticket shop, event organizers are able to use Facebook as an additional distribution channel. Apart from successfully promoting your event, you will also be able to actually sell tickets via a user-friendly integration with the world’s largest social network. Facebook is not the only social network in which you can actually sell tickets with amiando. Earlier this year the amiando tool has already been integrated into XING, one Europe’s most important professional networks.
amiando is delighted to be the world’s first and only company to offer ticket shops and registration forms within two of the leading social networks, providing our users with the greatest customer range possible so far. We are the first to fully cover the leisure as well as the business sphere of social networking.
LeWeb, Europe’s leading conference for internet and technology, and many other events have already started to use the new amiando Facebook ticket shop.
