EIBTM and Reed Exhibitions Ltd understand our events and processes can have both positive and negative impacts on environmental, social and economic aspects of the meetings and event industry and the local area in which they operate.
With commitment to continual improvement EIBTM works closely with industry professionals and governing bodies to excel standards in sustainability. The transparency of these actions are seen through our involvement and compliance with BS8901, the British Standard for Sustainable Event Management.

EIBTM Sustainable Stand Award
As part of the Best Stand Awards Programme, the Sustainable Stand Award will go to those who participate in the 20 Sustainable Actions initiative. Exhibitors can take part by completing the application form and taking simple actions towards sustainability. Make a difference for a sustainable future.

Our Objectives
- Contribute to environmental preservation – measure water, energy, emission, waste and transport, setting annual reductions.
- Involve stakeholders by briefing EIBTM’s involvement with BS8901 and the standards expected of them in order to comply.
- Involve exhibitors through awareness communications, interactive initiatives and post even evaluation.
- Identify more ways to benefit and continue working with local charities to deliver a positive impact on the community of Barcelona.
- Continue to actively source sustainable suppliers and products where ever possible.
- Monitor and measure the ongoing economic benefits of EIBTM to local business and economy.
Sustainable Events Corner
For EIBTM 2011, the Sustainable Events Corner aimed to inspire and engage visitors and exhibitors at EIBTM to learn more about sustainability and how it can be practically implemented into events, venues and the industry supply chain.
The Sustainable Events Corner featured an open advice clinic and short interactive presentations on the hour throughout the entire show which will included insight from leading industry experts and two industry associations who are leading in the provision of sustainability support to their members, Meetings Professional International (MPI) and the Green Meetings Idustry Council (GMIC).
