Qualifying Criteria

To be accepted as Hosted Buyer, you must meet our strict qualifying criteria. During registration, you will be asked to provide details on:

  • Number of international events held annually
  • Purchasing Authority
  • Annual Budget
  • Amount of business conducted internationally
  • Potential for future international business
  • Reasons for attending
  • One of our external qualifiers may contact you and/or appropriate travel suppliers to verify the information on your application.

Specific Qualifying Criteria for North American Buyers

All Hosted Buyers must fulfill the qualifying criteria set by EIBTM, which will include:

  • Number of overseas events held on a regular basis
  • Purchasing authority for overseas events
  • Annual budget for overseas events
  • Commitment to conduct future overseas business


North American buyers must fall into one of the following five qualified categories:

  1. Association executives/meeting planners whose North America-based international associations have already established an ongoing international meeting track record, i.e., must recently have initiated and run their own stand-alone meetings/conferences in Africa, Europe, Latin America and/or Asia Pacific, and are doing so again in 2011, 2012 or soon thereafter.

  2. Association Management Company executives/meeting planners whose North America-based international association clients have an established ongoing international meeting track record, i.e., must recently have initiated and run their own stand-alone meetings/conferences in Africa, Europe, Latin America and/or Asia-Pacific, and are doing so again in 2011, 2012 or soon thereafter.

  3. Corporate meeting planners whose North America-based corporations have already initiated and run their own stand-alone international meetings and/or incentive travel programs, i.e., must recently have run meetings/programs in Africa, Europe, Latin America and/or Asia Pacific, and doing so again in 2011 and 2012.

  4. Incentive Travel House executives/purchasers whose North America-based clients have recently selected international destinations in Africa, Europe, Latin America and/or Asia Pacific for their incentive travel award programs, and are doing so again in 2011 and 2012. (Our North American qualifier may request a faxed copy of this endorsement and will follow up where necessary.)

  5. Event Management Company planners who have a written endorsement from their North America-based client confirming their intention to use the services of the planner to help determine a site and/or venue in Africa, Asia Pacific, Latin America and/or Europe for a 2011 or 2012 meeting/conference.  (Our North American qualifier may request a copy of this endorsement and follow up where necessary.)

N.B. All applications will be scrutinized by our external qualifier using the information supplied on the application form, websites and other sources of information. In some instances a follow-up telephone call will be made. EIBTM reviews each applicant on its own merits.  EIBTM makes the final decision as to whether or not to host a buyer. For those North America-based applicants applying to EIBTM for the first time, please note that it will be necessary for our qualifier to seek authorization to participate from each applicant’s supervisor
