Harpa: Reykjavik Conference Centre
J650
Harpa, a striking addition to the Icelandic and international cultural scene, opened its doors on May 4th 2011 and celebrated its final opening ceremony in August 2011 when the building was formally inaugurated.
Harpa provides outstanding facilities in the centre of Reykjavík, Iceland. The building is the ideal venue for various concerts and musical events, international conferences, conventions with accompanying, trade shows, as well as meetings.
Harpa's facade is designed by renowned artist Olafur Eliasson, Henning Larsen Architects and Batteríid Architects. The design is based on a geometric principle, realized in two and three dimensions. Reminiscent of the crystallised basalt columns commonly found in Iceland, the southern facades create kaleidoscopic reflections of the city and striking surrounding landscape.
Reykjavík, Iceland, has a considerable advantage when it comes to hosting conferences and meetings due to its geographical location miday between North America and Europe. There are daily direct flights from most major cities in Europe and North America.
Reykjavík, Europe's northenmost capital, is a hospitable city that succeeds at combining the charm and intimacy of a small town with the qualites of a modern, sophisticated city. The city is known for its vibrant music life.
